Boundless Books complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This policy describes our practices regarding children under 13.
Parental Consent
Boundless Books is designed for family use. All accounts are created and managed by parents or guardians. Children do not create their own accounts.
By creating a child profile, the parent or guardian provides verifiable consent for the collection of information about their child.
Information We Collect About Children
We collect minimal information about children, only what is necessary to provide age-appropriate stories:
- Name or nickname — Used to personalize stories. Can be any name the parent chooses.
- Birth month and year — Used to determine appropriate reading level. We do not store the exact date.
- Reading preferences — Favorite story styles, themes to avoid.
- Reading history — Stories read, for continuity and recommendations.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Email addresses of children
- Photos of children
- Location data
- Contact information
- Social media accounts
- Any device identifiers tied to children
How We Use Children's Information
- Generate age-appropriate stories
- Track reading progress (visible to parents)
- Provide continuity in ongoing stories
No Advertising
Boundless Books does not show advertisements to children. We do not use children's information for behavioral advertising or marketing.
No Social Features for Children
Children cannot communicate with other users, share content publicly, or access social features. All sharing is controlled by parents.
Parental Controls
Parents have full control over their children's profiles:
- View all reading activity
- Set content restrictions (no monsters, no scary content, etc.)
- Delete profiles and associated data
- Export data about their child
Data Retention
Children's data is retained as long as the family account is active. Parents can delete a child's profile at any time, which removes all associated data.
Parental Rights
Parents have the right to:
- Review their child's personal information
- Request deletion of their child's information
- Refuse further collection of their child's information
